Richard Steele:  Artist, studied art history with David Brauer at the Glassell School of the Museum of Fine Arts/Houston from 1994-2000.

He has studied painting from 1999 to the present, also at the Glassell School, with artists who include Jackie Tileston, Terrell James, Ariel Masson and Hillary Wilder.  Mr. Steele is particularly interested in the work of artists Mark Rothko, Agnes Martin, Chuck Close, Dan Flavin, James Turrell and Carlos Cruz Diez.

As an university student, Mr. Steele discovered architect Louis I. Kahn’s profound statement, “all matter is spent light”.  This contributed to an interest in the physical world of materials and the systems used to make form which led to a significant interest in the theory of matter.  Pursuant to this quest, he began a study in quantum mechanics and sub-atomic particle physics in 1979 when he read the book, Dancing Wu Li Masters

Soon after he spent one summer in a study group discussing quantum physics with scientists, writers & lay people and has since become familiar with other ideas of theoretical physics.
